I Want Adventure in the Great Wide Somewhere

I’m very excited to announce that my sister is coming to visit!

My older sister, Shannon, has informed me that she’ll be coming down for a mini vacation next month and I couldn’t be more excited to see her.

It’s been a little over two years since the last time she came down to visit and I honestly can’t remember the last time I was up in Boston and was able to see her. We’ve chatted here and there on the phone but I really can’t explain how much I miss hanging out with her.

I would actually have to say one of the biggest things I miss about living in Boston has been my strange adventures with Shannon.

Sadly, this is going to be a short trip for her since she’s a teacher and doesn’t get much free time. She’s coming down with a friend but I’m hoping to join them for a day at Epcot while she’s down here. We did an Epcot day last time she was down here but it was a really hot day and super crowded so it was hard to have a good time.

Hopefully this time will be a tad different and we can have some fun!

We were just chatting on the phone and got to talking about taking a real trip sometime. Granted her upcoming visit is a real trip for her, but another day in Orlando for me. We want to do something fun.

Recently we had been chatting about packing it all away and doing one of those remote years or teaching abroad somewhere. Neither of us could realistically do that because we have pets and we aren’t willing to separate from them for that long a period of time.

But a mini-adventure is never out of the question.

One of the last times she came to visit we made a little stay-cation out of it and went to Tampa. We stayed at an amazing hotel in Clearwater and spent the next day at the Tampa Zoo where my sister had arranged a behind the scenes tour for us.

This is my kind of adventure!

I have the opportunity to travel for work, which is a blessing, but often a bit sad because I’m enjoying these strange and exciting places on my own. But I’m always keeping an eye out for what Shannon might enjoy in case we want to take a big trip.

A big one is Seattle. I’ve had an absolute blast every time I’ve been and I’d love to bring her out there to explore. I had done very little during my trips and I’m sure I’d be apt to do more were I with someone.

I’d also love to visit Hawaii again. I’ve had the opportunity to go twice for work and it was an unforgettable experience both times. I’m sure my sister would love it as well.

Point is, there’s a lot of little adventures I’d love to take. Biggest problem for both of us is time and money.

Who knows, maybe soon a small adventure might be in the making for the two of us. I’m going to propose to her that we come up with an idea for a trip, plan, save and make it happen in a set period of time.

I also really want to head to Wyoming to visit my younger sister sometime soon. It’s been somewhere north of three years since I’ve seen her and her husband and I have yet to meet my nephew who was born in Japan where my sister was stationed there with the air force.

Point is, I’m itching for an adventure. I need something soon.

I have some work trips on the schedule for the spring and I’m hoping to snag some more before the summer comes around.

If I don’t end up finding an agent for my book I’m going to self-publish and figure out how to go about a book tour on my own.

Sometimes you have to force adventure?

I don’t know. I’m rambling at this point.

I’m excited for an Epcot day with my sister and can’t wait to hopefully have some sibling fun while she’s here. She’s going to be with a friend so I have a feeling we’ll be slightly limited in what we are able to do. I tried to convince her that Animal Kingdom would be a better choice for a park day, and she agreed, but her friend is more of the Epcot type.

Oh well.
