I’ve been laying hints for a while not about something new on the horizon and I guess there is no time like the present to reveal what’s been going on!
I’m really excited to announce that I’ve started up my new business venture: The Hot Mess Press!
For a few months I’ve been playing around with the idea of starting up a Theme Park inspired shirt company and I finally felt like the time was right.
I have to say that this was easily one of the scariest ventures I’ve ever gone into mostly because it was something completely different.
When I started my speaking business there only initial investment was getting my name out there. When it came down to writing my book I decided to go the self-publishing route. Each copy is printed on demand so the cost of printing comes out of the total paid by the customer.
For shirts, there were a lot of different options when it came to how to do it. There are actually plenty of print-on-demand shirt companies like RedBubble and TeePublic but to be completely honest, I’m not overly thrilled with the quality of them. I know plenty of people that have found success but I wanted to make sure that I could stand behind my product.
I’m also a major control freak so I like the idea of being able to personally handle orders as they come through.
After some hunting I was able to find a great screen printing company right in Orlando called Hittin’ Skins. They have been a lot of fun to work with and I’ve been able to learn a lot.
I has done some design work when I was in college for a few different groups and clubs on campus so I had some idea what I was doing. Now it’s on a whole new level and I’m totally pumped.
Here are the designs that are on sale so far!
I’m gonna do another update with the stories behind the designs. I just wanted to post something really quick before I got too distracted by like.
While the shop is open now, I’m going to be doing a big grand opening launch on Monday the 26th.
As time goes on I’ll share more! I’ve got some new stuff I’m working on, especially for Halloween Horror Nights so definitely worth keeping an eye on!
That’s my quick update for today!
